Refugees Stories
Refugee crises are covered daily in the media, which show us terrible images of countless people desperate for a better life or just fighting for a chance to survive. The children are the most vulnerable in this complex matter. In 2016, the Town Hall hosted the exhibition ‘From Syria with love’, showcasing the paintings made by Syrian children and their vision of a world marked by blood, guns and destruction. In a different way to approximate to their feelings, fears and opportunities for their future, we are screening a very recent film that we want to discuss in a special event with people related to this reality.

“Making the choice to fight, even when you know you may not win”
Travel back to the early 20th Century and uncover forgotten history. Based on a true story, “May” has a unique take on the fight for women’s rights. Celebrate the 100 years since women gained the vote by meeting May Billinghurst, one of those who fought for it. In this brand new show, premiering at Trowbridge Arts, May’s story of love, loss and hope will change the way you see the early 20th century, and maybe the present, too.

An intimate new dance-theatre work, Points of Echo is a haunting tale of love, death and monsters, blending the tones of a Wes Anderson movie with the eerie dread of The Twilight Zone. Isolated for one year Eric Valen-tine and Bernard Rose have been stationed at an unnamed lighthouse, at an unknown time, somewhere on the coast of England. Strangers to each other, the pair have just begun to lay down the foundations of a friendship when disaster strikes and a mysterious stranger arrives.
