“Life is just a game played out for no reason, so there is no need one shouldn’t try to achieve everything one wants. After all, life is nothing but a series of sensations. So one may as well try and make oneself extraordinary, extraordinary and brilliant, even if it means becoming a brilliant fool like me and having the kind of disastrous life that I have had.” – Francis Bacon

Playday is the national day for play, traditionally held on the first Wednesday in August so in 2017 it is Wednesday 2 August.

Playday highlights the importance of play in children’s lives. It is the biggest play event in the UK, and who knows maybe even the World?

At Town Hall Arts we will be offering creative play from 10am until 1pm and we will be encouraging children to use their imaginations in a variety of activities - some outdoors and some indoors.

No need to book, just come along.

Want a cool clock to match your room, or to give as a present? In this workshop we’ll show you how to design and decorate a large clock face (30cm 30cm), ready to put a real clock mechanism in to. We’ll be using the technique called ‘decoupage’, to cover your clock face with all sorts of interesting papers. We supply loads of coloured and patterned papers for you to use, but the best bit is adding your own, to make your clock really personal to you.
