Paul Deacon: Modest Objects

Paul Deacon: Modest Objects

April 21, 2018 @ 10:00 AM

Trowbridge Town Hall
Market Street, Trowbridge, BA14 8EQ

Paul Deacon’s vibrant paintings juxtapose images drawn from our everyday experiences. This exhibition brings together a body of work in which the status of ordinary objects is raised, and their meanings redefined. Through a process of layering and reworking, surreal images emerge. The viewer is offered up an opportunity to find personal meanings by conjuring their own memories and associations.

Artist Talk Monday 14 May 6pm-7pm doors open at 5.30pm for a preview of the exhibition and the bar will be open. More info and booking here.

Pip returns to Town Hall Arts with his brilliant portrayal of Adolf Hitler. The Fuhrer’s bunker, Berlin 1945, the air is thick with betrayals Hitler awaits the inevitable collapse of Berlin. Pip Utton, furnishes his audience with an acute anatomy of fascism; its ideological justifications; its poisoned utopias. They are in the presence of an utterly compelling idealist, helplessly drawn in to his warped logic.

Join us on a tour of Trowbridge Town Hall - a building filled with history. Previously home of the local government, the base of Trowbridge Urban District Council, the local Magistrates' Court, Coroner's Court and County Court.

Originally built "for the benefit of the inhabitants of the town" -  come and hear about its journey through the years and see how the building is currently used with the same intentions Sir William Roger Brown originally had in mind.
