Town Hall Open 2019
July 26, 2019 @ 6:30 PM
Saturday 27 July - Saturday 31 August
Exhibition Launch: Friday 26 July - 6.30pm–7.30pm
Town Hall Arts third annual Open Exhibition invited artists at all stages of their careers, working in any contemporary art media, to submit recent work for exhibition at Trowbridge Town Hall. On display throughout the Town Hall are the successful works of art, carefully chosen by a panel of judges: Sophie Cummings, Katie Ackrill and Philippa Edwards.
For the third time, our selected Open 2019 offers an incredible mixture of emerging artists and established names, in the very heart of Trowbridge. This exciting, diverse exhibition, varies in medium from sculpture, installation, painting and photography.
As part of our Arts Open process we offered prizes to help support our local and national artists. A first prize will be awarded and the winning artist will be invited to exhibit in our main gallery in 2020.
The People’s Choice Prize - 500 postcards sponsored by Avon Printing Services. The People's Choice prize will be announced at 1pm on Saturday 31 August.
The artists represent those right at the beginning of their careers as well as those who are well-established. We hope you find a piece you enjoy from the wide works. We invite members of the public to vote for their favourite in our Peoples Choice by using the voting postcards provided in the galleries. The winner will be announced at 1pm on 31 August, the final day of the exhibition.
Most works are for sale, giving you the opportunity to own original artworks by new and leading artists. Not only does this support the artist but in return, enables Town Hall Arts to continue providing for the community, as a beacon of arts, culture and heritage learning.
To close the exhibition we will have a gathering, with refreshments for artists and their guests, from 1pm. Please do take the opportunity to come along and meet with other artists.
The winner of the People’s Choice Award will be announced at 1pm on 31 August after which exhibiting artists will be welcome to collect their work. Alternatively exhibiting artists can collect work on Monday 2 / Tuesday 3 September between 10am and 4pm.
