Trapped in ‘the world’s largest open-air prison’ and ruled by war, a young generation is drawn to the beaches. Sick of occupation and political gridlock, they find their own personal freedom in the waves of the Mediterranean. This heartfelt and award-winning documentary gives us an alternative insight into life in Palestine, through the world of Gaza’s surfing enthusiasts and reveals a formidable spirit of resilience.
Prior to the main film there will be the premiere of the short film "Six Days" (26 minutes) by local director and producer Samiha Abdeldjebar. The documentary portrays her first journey to Palestine in the spring of 2017. With footage she recorded during her trip, and in her own words, this is the story of an eventful six days in Jerusalem and the West Bank. Samiha will then lead an informal discussion following the both films.
