Drama Club for Adults with Learning Disabilities
March 27, 2018 @ 3:00 PM
Each session will be a mix of drama exercises and games exploring emotions, teamwork, character and storytelling. Sensory equipment and music will be an integral part of the club. The focus of the first term will be on building skills and confidence. The activities will be led by what the members find the most enjoyable and useful.
I am a professionally trained actor and workshop facilitator. As a graduate of the East 15 BA World Performance Course I have a range of skills including world music, devising and physical theatre.
Since graduating I have worked with a number of theatre companies including; Taking Flight Theatre Company, Tell Tale Heart Theatre Company and Butterfly Psyche Theatre. This has included two tours of “Wave” an interactive sensory piece of theatre aimed at young adults with PMLD. I have also advised a number of theatre companies on creating “relaxed” performances, suitable for autistic people and people with learning disabilities.
As a workshop facilitator, I have worked with a number of different groups, with a specialism in SEND young people. I have created and run a Youth Theatre at Larkrise School and run a series of workshops at St Nicholas’ School for specific projects. I am also the SEND specialist for Prime Theatre. As a wheelchair user with an autistic brother, Phoebe is very passionate about making the arts inclusive to everyone.
Each 2 hour session will cost £10 if paid on the day, or £80 for the whole term. This is to cover costs of staff and equipment. The dates for this term are 23rd, 30 Jan, 6, 27 Feb and 6, 13, 20, 27 March.
