The Year groups, from Reception to Year 6, were each inspired by a different theme, and pupils explored an artist’s work, artistic technique or approach.

Year 1
Topic inspired by ‘Windows’ by Jeannie Baker. The children used layering techniques to show perspective.
Food – Artwork inspired by Quentin Blake.

Year 2
Robots – inspired by Eric Joyner.
Printing – ‘Who might you meet on your yellow brick road?’

Year 3
Dragons – inspired by Jackie Morris’ ‘Tell me a Dragon’.
Iron Man – inspired by illustrations from ‘Iron Man’ by Tom Gould and expressionism for colour.

Year 4
Space – Texture work inspired by Mark Rothko.
Aboriginal Art, topic – around the world in 80 days.

Year 5
‘Journey to Johannesburg’ ‘Who is God’ inspired by African Art of Gathinja Yamokoski.
Vikings – Sculpture inspired by Alexander Calder to represent the Vikings.
‘Charlie and The Chocolate Factory’ inspired by pop art.

Year 6
Sculpture – Topic – ‘The Giant’s Necklace’ by Michael Morpurgo.
Sculpture inspired by environmental art.
