A dark comedy inspired by a true story.
This mortally funny piece of devised theatre explores the comedy behind death, dying and grief through music, dance and physical theatre. This project is an exploration of the question: can we laugh in the face of death?
A dark comedy inspired by the personal journey through illness and the passing on Tess’s late partner and iconic Bristol beatboxer, Vid Warren.
Modest Genius theatre company makes new dark, physical comedy about social taboos. Based in Bristol and the south west, the company was formed by graduates of the Lecoq, Gaulier and Dell’arte theatre schools in 2015.
We work with story-telling, physical theatre, mime, clowning, improvisation and music to create anarchic, comic and touching theatre.
Quotes from our highly intelligent audiences:
“so open and honest and funny and courageous… I was laughing or crying so much I almost fell off my chair!”
“puts on the table death and how people deal with it and how ridiculous it all is… honestly that really shined through… tears and laughter”
Holly Stoppit will also be running a drama therapy workshop exploring grief on 6&7 June in Bristol – more info from email@example.com
