Across the school we have been developing our artistic skills to produce fantastic artwork. We have used our class topics and have looked at the work of artists for inspiration to produce our final pieces.
Reception have been developing their fine motor control skills by completing fun drawing activities where they have been inventing new monsters. They have used pencils and other mark making material to produce art work, ensuring that they make careful lines and fill all of the space on the paper with colour.
Year 1 have been learning about the wonderful planet Earth. In their artwork they have been developing their painting skills by understanding how to use careful brushstrokes to fill gaps and not go out of the lines. They have also been creating collages by having to select the right resources and place them carefully to produce a final piece. These two pieces of artwork have helped us to further our knowledge of symmetrical butterfly patterns and the appearance of Mallard ducks.
Year 2 and 3 have used POP ART as a starting point to produce their own work around a subject that interested them. They tested their final compositions using different materials and chose their favourite as their final piece.
Year 4 have been inspired by artist and illustrator Oliver Jeffers to produce similar style pencil drawings of themselves. They enjoyed reading ‘The Incredible Book Eating Boy’ to develop their ideas and thought carefully about how to use the illustrations of the book to produce their own.
Year 5 have been making recreations of artworks and have created original pieces by putting themselves into famous works of art.
Year 5/6 have been inspired by the magical world of Narnia and produced frosty looking artwork. They selected their watercolour colours carefully, making thoughtful decisions about where to place the colour on the page.
