West Wiltshire Multi Faith Forum in partnership with Town Hall Arts invites ladies to celebrate International Women's Day with a free screening of Sonita.

Undocumented Afghan refugee, living in Iran, Sonita dreams of being a famous rapper. Her dreams are dangerous: the Iranian government doesn’t allow girls to sing, and her family expect her to become a teenage bride. Rapping defiantly about her experiences in a sexist and repressive environment, Sonita is an activist for the ages, her spirit, attitude and resolve captured in this powerful documentary by Ghaem Maghami.

This year’s event will start at 12.45 pm in the Supper Room in the Town Hall with a lunch provided by WWMFF and the idea is that women will bring desserts and soft drinks to share. The film screening of Sonita will start at 2:15 pm (90 minutes) followed with refreshments and an informal short discussion. The venue can seat until 80 people but it’s recommended to arrive a few minutes before the film starts to avoid disappointment.

The event is completely free of charge and there will be a crèche service available for mothers with small children during the film (2.00 pm - 4.00 pm) at the Girl Guide Hall, situated behind the Town Hall.

No need to book your place but please let us know if you are thinking of coming via Facebook or email so we have an idea of how many people to cater for.
