A CHRISTMAS CAROL by CHARLES DICKENS
December 16, 2016 @ 7:30 PM
Performed by Pip Utton as Charles Dickens
"I have endeavoured in this Ghostly little book, to raise the Ghost of an Idea, which shall not put my readers out of humour with themselves, with each other, with the season, or with me. May it haunt their houses pleasantly,.”
So Charles Dickens described what has become one of the best loved of all Christmas stories. During the last twelve years of his life Charles Dickens toured Britain and the USA reading his writings professionally to his adoring public. The most popular of all these readings was ‘A Christmas Carol’. In this almost totally candlelit performance Pip Utton recreates those readings using the script adaptation of the story made and used by Charles Dickens himself.
Pip is recognised internationally as a leading performer and writer of one-man drama. His performances as Adolf Hitler, Francis Bacon, Charlie Chaplin, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Charles Dickens Churchill, Casanova and most recently Margaret Thatcher have received rave reviews and won him many awards throughout the world. Recently Pip has won the Stage Aw2ard for Excellence, Belarus International THeatre Festival 'Best Actor' award and the Valery Kashanov Award presnted by the International Theatre Institute for his worldwide influence and acheivements in monodrama.
