Behind the Light - Evening View
June 09, 2016 @ 6:00 PM
Join us for the evening view of the exhibition - no need to book.
An exhibition to commemorate the work of Bill Goldsmith which features work throughout his life. His practice spans 60 decades.
This is a rare opportunity to see previously unshown work and includes an insight into his working practices with his private drawings, sketchbooks and printing plates being available to view on the evening.
A darkend timeless interior is the starting point for many of the drawings, etchings and painted reliefs.
At first glance the colour appears sombre, but as its surface absorbs colour glows from within, it is the quality of light which holds the attention.
Within the layers both abstract and figurative images evolve slowly over time. In his final collages Bill includes fragile fragments of the human head.
