Evening View The Waiting Room........
January 21, 2016 @ 6:00 PM
Eleanor Bartlet’s work is concerned with human endeavour, the poignancy of the human condition and the endurance of effort over time.
Her work is faithful to the nature of the materials she uses and the way they behave as they are worked. It expresses raw and elemental energy, which is suggestive of a primitive origin.
The Waiting Room........ is a response to the building and the room that houses it, while remaining resolutely non-representational.
Exhibition Dates: Friday 8 January to Saturday 27 February 2016 10am - 4pm Monday to Saturday (excluding Sundays).
Evening view: Thursday 21 January 6-8pm
Eleanor has created this new installation work in response to the waiting room.
Here the object and the room are integral to each other. The Waiting Room has reclaimed its original function. This structure embalmed in wax, suggests preparation for some ancient ritual and sits within the silent room which has become a place of transition. Eventually it will cease to exist.
Eleanor’s work has featured in exhibitions at The Parlour, The Black Swan and the Grace Gallery in Frome; Bruton Museum: the Updown Gallery Ramsgate; Pallant House, Chichester; the Princes Foundation Gallery, London and the Minerva Gallery, in Chichester, as well as the RWA, and was the Regional Winner of the National Open Competition in 2012.
Her next project will be at Salisbury Cathedral in 2017.
