Artists have been invited to submit proposals for visual arts residencies at Trowbridge Town Hall.
Over the next six months the building will be the subject of a feasibility study to determine how it can be used as an arts venue in the coming years.
Trowbridge Town Hall is a grade 2 listed building built in 1889. It has had various functions over the years and until recently housed the local magistrates courts. In its un-renovated state it has been home to Trowbridge Arts for just over a year during which time the venue has mainly been used to show professional theatre productions.
Trowbridge Arts is now looking at how best to include the visual arts in the mix. We are offering free studio residencies to selected artists to kick start this process.
Residencies will take place between May and October 2014 and will be between 2 weeks and 3 months in length.
There will be up to five studio spaces made available at any one time on the first floor of the Town Hall. The studios are arranged around a central 'gallery' space which will be the location for periodic public exhibitions and events throughout the residencies period.
